Stage, Lights and Friendships: Our Drama Adventure at Turi

3rd May 2025

By Berenice, Year 7

Last weekend, Aura, Kavi, Maya K, Maya T, Tamiko, and Yuval and I went to Turi for our first-ever drama festival.

It was a long four-hour drive to their beautiful school — especially for our driver, as we sang all the Braeburn musical playlists loudly the entire way! But we made it. When we arrived in Turi, we took our time to unpack our bags and settle into our tents. Once everything was in place, we were split into six groups: Maya K and Tamiko were in Group 1, Maya T in Group 2, Yuval in Group 3, Aura in Group 4, Kavi in Group 5, and I was in Group 6.

It was fun to mingle with students from other schools. We were given three themes to choose from for our final performances. It wasn’t easy at first — we had to outline, write, direct, and act out a four-minute skit within our groups — but by Saturday night, we were ready. Everyone managed to perform, and it turned out to be a great experience, especially as we got to know our group members better. Along the way, we even decided to "adopt" some girls from other schools!

We built some long-lasting friendships and we’ll be happy to see them again during future fixtures!
