The 2022 Braeburn Kasarani Athletics

11th November 2022

This week was yet another reminder about how grateful we are to return to ‘normal’ after the long, Covid 19 inflicted ban on big social events like the Braeburn Kasarani Athletics Meet. It was a hugely successful track and field event held on Friday 11th November, where around 650 athletes from 16 schools across Kenya put blood, sweat and tears into earning a medal and earning points for their schools.

The event stretches pupils to not only do their best amid stiff competition, but also go beyond what their predecessors have done in the past. That is why when the Under 13 Boys 1500m record was shattered by a whopping 4 seconds, the entire stadium erupted in a resounding cheer for the pupil who had done what was seemingly impossible, with great poise and perseverance.

This event really emphasises Braeburn’s community spirit of everyone pulling together to support our pupils; from parents, teachers, coaches, bus drivers, first aid responders, grounds men and many more unseen support staff. A massive thank you goes to Athletics Kenya who helped ensure that the technical aspects of a track and field event were upheld, and that the results from all the events were released as and when the respective events concluded. Until next year, it is back to the training ground for our pupils!
