The Big Draw: A Celebration Of Senses

13th October 2023

This year's Big Draw's theme was 'Drawing with the Senses’ where artists experimented with how to draw their smells and tastes. They also responded to different music with patterns and colour and used their sense of touch to draw objects they could only feel, not see! Finally, they drew blind in an experiment to experience how we would cope without the sense of sight. All the paintings were then used to create collage pieces inspired by the illustrator Eric Carle.

Our Early Years pupils also joined in the fun by creating some gorgeous snakes and caterpillars, while Year 1 & 2 created wonderful flowers. In Year 3 & 4, beautiful butterflies came to life, and Year 5 & 6 artists sculpted incredible bugs. Lastly, our Year 7 & 8 artists produced large animals and landscapes. All of these pieces can be admired in our exhibition space in the Arts block: feel free to pass by anytime and appreciate our artwork on the senses!
