20th September 2023
We are so excited to begin our horse riding sessions again with the horses and team at the stables, embracing the new name of Nairobi Equestrian Stables, formerly known as New Muthaiga Stables. We work with a fantastic team of two instructors and over 10 syces, who look forward to our lessons as much as we do!
We have three clubs a week now and grow stronger by the year! Existing members are reinvited each term and occasionally there is an opportunity for pupils on our waiting lists to be offered a spot. To sign up please see Mrs Bailey or any of our admin team.
Monday Club
Mrs Bailey, Miss Susan and twenty one students attend Monday after school from 3.30pm to 5.30pm. This group is aimed at complete novices to more experienced riders from Year 2 upwards. We rotate around three areas of riding instruction, stable management and small animal care. Progression of skills are observed and assessments are updated with opportunities of receiving certificates at certain levels.
Pony Club
Mrs Childs, Miss Susan and fourteen 3 to 5 year olds attend this session between 1.00pm and 3.00 pm on a Friday. These little ones are gently nurtured to gain confidence, knowledge and skills around horse riding, short hacks (adventure walks on ponies) and the small pets.
Friday Elite Riding Club
Mrs Bailey is pleased to hand over the reins to an experienced rider in Mrs Worthington, accompanied by Miss Madowo and the instructor, support six experienced riders to extend their skills during a 45 minute structured riding lesson. This takes place on Fridays after school, 3.30pm to 5.15pm. This team represented Braeburn in school equestrian events in Nairobi and have twice won the Gymkhana cup at Hillcrest in the last two years. We still have a great deal to learn but are definitely up for the challenge!
We will give you regular updates of all three equestrian clubs this term and hope you enjoy watching our news.
