3rd May 2025
On Saturday, 3rd May, Braeburn School proudly hosted the annual IAPS Chess Tournament, bringing together talented young players from IAPS schools across the region. The event was a fantastic showcase of strategy, focus, and friendly competition, with pupils demonstrating excellent sportsmanship and critical thinking throughout the day. We are delighted to share that Braeburn School achieved an impressive 2nd place overall.
A special congratulations goes to Mingzhou Xu, who put in a stellar performance to win Braeburn 1st place in the U11 category. His calm, tactical play and consistent results throughout the tournament were a highlight of the day and a proud moment for the school.
Thank you to all the pupils who took part and represented Braeburn so well, and to the staff and organisers who made the event a resounding success. We also thank our visiting schools for their participation and the spirit in which the games were played.
It was a pleasure to host such a well-contested tournament, and we look forward to building on this success in future chess events. Well done to all involved – especially Team Braeburn!
