9th October 2024
Ave!
This term, our Year 4 pupils have been delving into the wonders of the mighty Roman Empire. From its vast and highly trained armies that conquered many lands, to its political ambitions across Europe, our young historians have explored every corner of Roman life. They have learned about Roman battle tactics, weapons, and how their cultural contributions — like modern roads, aqueducts, and even food — continue to impact our world today. And of course, no Roman study would be complete without discussing the British rebellion led by the fierce Boudicca!
To celebrate their newfound knowledge, Wednesday, October 9th, was Roman Day for Year 4. Our very own Romans and Celts immersed themselves in Roman and Celtic activities, complete with their respective dress styles. They participated in exciting games such as Roman chariot races and gladiator games, and also tried their hands at designing the mighty Colosseum, exploring Roman numerals, and learning about the fascinating gods and goddesses that were central to Roman beliefs.
The day’s grand finale was a feast — just like the Romans would have enjoyed! It was a perfect way to cap off their day of conquests and reflections, filled with food, laughter, and celebration.
Valete!
