The Under 12 Boys Football Tournament

On Saturday 24th June, Braeburn took part in the Under 12 (Year 6 and 7) Boys Football Tournament hosted by Braeside School. Our boys were placed in a group with Braeside B, Rusinga, St. Christophers, and St. Austins. Braeburn showed great skill in moving the ball forward, side stepping defenders and making accurate passes, which saw the boys maintaining the ball possession advantage in all our games.
Perhaps the one area that the boys struggled with was using the opportunities in the scoring positions to send the ball to the back of the net, a shortcoming that proved detrimental to the team’s progression to the next stage. Braeburn ended the group stages with 3 draws and 1 loss, gaining fewer points than what was required to move onto the semi-finals.
It was a great learning experience for our Under 12s who will be playing as Under 13’s in next term’s football season. They will now focus training sessions on using scoring opportunities optimally, and turning skillful forward movement into goals.
