The Year 3 Rainforest Adventure

29th November 2023

Splash. Splosh. Squelch. These were the sounds amongst the Year 3 giggles that filled the Ngong Forest on Wednesday 29th November. The weather was sunny, but the ground was still wet from recent rains – perfect for some outdoor fun. The Year 3s enjoyed jumping in puddles and planting trees while using the geography and science skills they've been learning about.

The tree planting was extra special because our pupils have been learning why rainforests are disappearing and why trees are so important for providing oxygen. This matched up well with Kenya's Tree Planting Day held earlier in the month, enabling Year 3 to help out locally in the Ngong Forest while also being part of the global effort to save trees.

Beyond the laughs and muddy shoes, the day taught our pupils more than what's in their books. It showed them that learning isn't just in the classroom; it's about taking care of the world around us. The day was all about having fun, getting dirty, and becoming little nature heroes!
