U10 Braeside Netball Festival

2nd June 2022

In what was most of the girls first tournament and a mixture of Year 4 and Year 5 girls hopped on the bus to go to the U10 Braeside Netball Festival. We had managed a few training sessions to get used to playing with each other (as our players are normally play in either U9 or U11 teams) and were ready to go.

The first game saw the girls draw with Cavina 2-2, a tall and tough team! In the second game, the girls faced St Christopher's; again, their height certainly gave them the advantage, but Braeburn managed a 2-1 win. In the following game, Braeburn came up against the eventual winners, Rusinga, and lost by 2 goals. The last group game of the day was against Braeside, where the girls played their best netball of the day. They passed the ball around really well, ensuring that they were not making too many loopy passes. A 3-1 win secured a spot in the semi-finals. Braeburn met with BGE, who we knew were strong. BGE started well, having most of the possession throughout the game. Braeburn struggled to take hold of the game and get the ball out of the goal third. BGE secured a good win and went onto the final. We played Hillcrest in the 3rd/4th play offs. Hillcrest again started well, and their secret weapon, their GS was on fire! 3 from 3 shots for Hillcrest, with Braeburn struggling to score, but a good game nonetheless.

4th place overall for Braeburn. A great deal of experience was gained from the day, and we look forward to our next festival/tournament. Well done girls!
