22nd November 2025
Braeburn’s U11 Boys delivered an inspiring performance at this year’s IAPS Football Tournament hosted by Brookhouse Karen on Saturday, 22nd November. They began with a narrow 0–1 loss to Hillcrest but quickly regrouped, demonstrating excellent character in their remaining group-stage matches. Their response was outstanding—a commanding 5–0 win over Nanyuki, a disciplined 1–0 victory against Pembroke, and a confident 2–0 triumph over Kenton—securing a well-earned place in the semi-finals.
In the semi-final, the boys faced a formidable BGE team and, despite their commitment and hard work, fell to a 0–3 defeat. This led them to the 3rd/4th playoff, where they once again met Hillcrest. After a tightly fought match ending 1–1, the result came down to the tension of a penalty shoot-out. The boys battled bravely but were edged out 4–5 on penalties, finishing the tournament in 4th place overall.
The team scored an impressive 9 goals, with Mtende leading the tally with 7, followed by Carl and Kou with 1 each. Although the day ended in a tough moment, the boys should be incredibly proud of their performance. Their teamwork, sportsmanship, and fighting spirit were evident in every match. As a key takeaway, the team will begin practising post-training penalty shoot-outs to build confidence under pressure. A fantastic effort from all players—well done, boys!
