U13 Boys and Girls Rise to the Challenge at Brookhouse

31st January 2026

The U13 Boys and Girls Hockey teams produced commendable performances at their respective invitational tournaments held at Brookhouse on Saturday 31st January, competing with determination and resilience against strong opposition. Both squads were challenged by well-matched teams and high-pressure situations, making the tournaments valuable learning experiences and a positive reflection of the growing strength of the sport.

The U13 Boys impressed at the Brookhouse Invitational Hockey Tournament, finishing an excellent third place despite facing schools fielding full 1st teams with older and more experienced players. Made up of a mix of 1st and 2nd team players, the boys showed consistency and teamwork in the group stages, securing four wins and one draw from five matches. After a narrow semi-final defeat decided by one-on-one run-ins, they showed great character to bounce back and win the third-place playoff in a tense sudden-death run-in against the host school.

Meanwhile, the U13 Girls finished second in their group to qualify for the semi-finals, where they narrowly lost to Cavina after conceding in the final 20 seconds. The girls then contested the third-place playoff against Brookhouse Karen and were edged out in an eight-second shootout. Despite the fine margins, the tournament was a positive experience, offering valuable lessons and highlighting areas for continued development as the team continues to grow.
