17th May 2025
Following a closely fought midweek fixture, the Braeburn U13 boys’ rugby team showed exceptional commitment by putting in extra training sessions to prepare for the Hillcrest 13-Aside IAPS Tournament held on Saturday 17th May. The focus was on refining tackling technique, understanding game strategies and building team cohesion.
Drawn into a strong group alongside Hillcrest, Pembroke, Brookhouse and Peponi, the boys were eager to showcase their growth. They opened the tournament with a spirited 12-7 win over the hosts, Hillcrest, displaying solid defense and determination. In the second match against Pembroke, the team continued to show grit and unity on the pitch, where despite a loss, they presented their most spirited fight of the day. Their third match against Brookhouse was a thrilling encounter, with Braeburn clinching a 7-5 win thanks to disciplined teamwork and composure under pressure.
The final match against Peponi presented fresh challenges but the boys remained focused and gave it their all. Throughout the day, they demonstrated resilience, a willingness to learn, and true Braeburn sportsmanship. Special thanks to Mr. Bailey for his expert guidance, and to Spencer and Lui for stepping in as last-minute additions — both played with heart and enthusiasm.
Well done to the entire team for their positive attitude, progress, and strong representation of our school!
