Under 13 Girls Triumph at the KAISSO Netball Tournament

17th June 2023

Braeburn’s Under 13 netball team triumphed over all at the Kenya Association of International Schools Sports Organisation (KAISSO) Netball Tournament held at Oshwal Academy on Saturday, 17th June.

The team presented a cautious start, coming 3rd in their pool during the group stages, which meant that they had to wait to see if they had made it through to the quarter-finals on goal difference. A 2 point difference sent Braeburn through to a quarter final match against St. Christopher's, winning 4-1. Semi-finals were against a really strong Greansteads team, but again the girls came up on top to win 6-3, seeing them through to the final. The final was against Nairobi Academy, a team that Braeburn drew against in the group stages. Our girls went into the second half down 2-3, but dug in to come through to a 5-3 win.

It was a fine team effort, particularly as it was a mix of 1st and 2nd team players (a number of 1st team players were involved in Ndume touch rugby on the same day) who had very little playing time together. As the tournament developed, so did they as a team, with a greater understanding of each other and how they play. Special mention goes out to Tiffany Kulaba (Year 7) who was the team’s most valuable player, playing both attacking and defending positions and being outstanding in both roles.
