The Under 9 girls have been working hard developing their netball skills over the last 6 weeks of the term, many of whom were playing the game for the very first time. They have shown great enthusiasm in learning and playing by the rules, and as a result the progress in their skills was evident at the tournament that took place on Thursday 8th June at The Banda.
The first game was against St. Andrews Turi, where they fought hard to win the loose ball, taking ownership of the game with 3 goals to nil. Another win came against Brookhouse, which was by far our best game of the tournament. The girls 'balanced the court’ beautifully, marking tight and moving the ball up the court using the right players. This match was won 5 goals to 1.
There were some losses against Peponi House, Braeburn Garden Estate and Pembroke, the latter being a close game with a difference of 1 goal that was scored by the opponents in the dying minutes of the game.
Overall the girls played some great netball, really showing great determination and energy to play their best. A lot of their hard work throughout the season paid off, and they really put into practice their learning and new found skills. The girls represented Braeburn in an impeccable way both on and off the court. Well done girls!
