31st January 2026
On Friday 23rd January, the Year 12 students departed to Brookhouse Karen for the UK
university fair. It was an informative experience as it allowed us to learn more about a wide range of universities, courses, and career opportunities.
Speaking directly to the university representative was beneficial as it helped us gain a clear understanding of what they are looking for and how our current subjects and academic choices can support our future goals.
The fair included several Russell Group Universities (prestigious public research universities in the UK). Which was a motivating factor for many of us!
We appreciate the Sixth Form Staff Team for organizing this. It was a valuable opportunity.
Alongside the research benefit of attending the fair it was also a fantastic opportunity to
network with other students with similar interests.
Ms Shaw, a Maths and Business Teacher noted the value of the event. One particular highlight was the inspiring talk Why choose a creative career? led by Syi Agboola, from the University for the Creative Arts (UCA). He highlighted the 'high demand' creative industries including; music sound production, fine art, fashion, gaming, film and tv and creative business management, amongst others.
It was good to see some footage of UCA's campus and facilities and examples of students who went on to successful careers in animation, fashion and film making. "Creativity + Technology = The Future" he argued, continuing "students who embrace creativity are better equipped to adapt to the economy of tomorrow".
To conclude, the uni fair was a great informative and enjoyable experience.
