Up-Country Rugby and Netball Tour

19th May 2023

Braeburn’s Under 11 A and B, Under 13 1st and 2nd netball and U13 2nd and 3rd rugby teams undertook an up-country tour to St. Andrew's, Turi, and then Pembroke School in Gilgil. The trip to Nakuru was a smooth one, with teams arriving at St. Andrew's at about 3pm, albeit to the welcome of a determined downpour that threatened to put a halt to the much anticipated netball and rugby fixtures. However, the games went on as planned as soon as there was a lull in the rain, with all teams putting up a spirited fight. Saturday’s matches against Pembroke also went on smoothly, this time under the scorching sun, a stark contrast to the previous day’s matches, and a true test to our teams who had been on the road for hours.

Overall there were some wins and some losses against St. Andrew's and Pembroke, but more importantly valuable lessons were learned and will inform subsequent training leading up to the term’s major tournaments. In addition, our pupils learnt to maintain a positive attitude even amid hardship, to display resilience and push through difficult situations and weather conditions, and more importantly, to work even harder than they think are able to.
