On Monday, March 10, 2025, I had the incredible honor of playing for the Somali Handball Team in a historic competition held at Nyayo Stadium. The match ended with a nail-biting score of 36-32.This win not only represents the hard work and dedication of our team but also marks a proud moment for Somali athletes in the competitive stage.

From the moment the game started, the intensity was palpable. Rwanda came out strong, and both teams fought with everything they had. It was an incredibly tough match, but the Somali Team refused to back down. We worked together as one, pushing forward with every pass, every play, and every goal. The game was a rollercoaster of emotions, and when the final whistle blew, the joy of securing the victory was overwhelming.

As one of the athletes on the court, I felt a deep sense of pride. Every player on our team gave their all, with each of us contributing to the win. Our defense held firm, our goalkeepers made some crucial saves, and our attacking players executed plays that ultimately led us to victory. The whole team played as one unit, and it was truly a collective effort.

Key Moments of the Match

There were several moments during the match that will stay with me forever. One of the most memorable was when Rwanda pushed hard to close the gap and almost overtook us. But in those tense moments, we didn’t let the pressure get to us. We kept our focus and executed our strategies perfectly. It was teamwork at its finest—everyone knew their role, and we trusted each other to get the job done.

The final moments of the game were incredibly intense, but when we scored the final goal and heard the final whistle, the sense of achievement was overwhelming. I couldn’t have been more proud to wear the Somali jersey and to know that we had given our absolute best.

What This Win Means for Somalia

This victory is not just about one game—it represents something much bigger. It shows the strength and talent of Somali athletes, and it proves that we can compete at the highest level in Africa and beyond.
