Vive la Francophonie! A Celebration of Culture and Language

19th March 2026

On Thursday 19th March, the school came alive as we celebrated La Francophonie Day. From Year 1 to Year 8, pupils stepped “off timetable” to immerse themselves in the richness of the French language and the cultures of over 300 million French speakers across five continents. The morning was filled with energy, curiosity, and a shared appreciation for global diversity.

Pupils showcased their learning through an impressive range of creative outcomes. Global Perspectives (Factfiles) highlighted thoughtful research into the history, geography, and culture of Francophone nations, while Visions of Unity brought these countries to life through bold and vibrant posters. Passport to Adventure travel brochures invited us on exciting journeys across the Francophone world, and L’Art des Mots beautifully combined language and creativity through striking French word art displays.

The celebration extended beyond the classroom with The Gourmet Corner (Les Menus), where pupils designed mouth-watering menus inspired by French-speaking cultures, and the lively Lower School French Café and Games, which added a playful and interactive element to the day. A huge merci to our teachers, pupils, and parents for making this a truly memorable celebration—filled with creativity, collaboration, and joie de vivre!
