Week 3 Sports' Update

31st January 2025

U15 A, B, and C boys’ hockey 3 pm start @ Hillcrest (friendly) - 17th January

U15 boys A hockey lost to Hillcrest 4-1. Some work on team cohesion is needed as well as fitness. Scores were 1-1 for a while but we lacked the quality needed to bring the win.

The U15 boys B’s tried their best but couldn’t manage to bring a win. Lots of fight in the team especially those playing in their first fixture showing a lot of promise. The match ended 1-0 to Hillcrest.

U15 Football Girls v West Nairobi School @ WNS - Friday 24th January

On Friday 24th January, the girls played an exciting match against WNS. We were off to an energetic start with a goal in the second minute from Nerry Amimo. (9H) This gave our girls confidence and they literally camped in the WNS half and within 3 minutes we were up 2-0 after another fantastic goal from Nerry. This led to a counterattack from WNS that saw them almost score a goal but were denied by our goalkeeper Malaika Abilla (10S) who was very alert.

Braeburn pressed up quickly and within no time scored again; Nerry with a hat trick. WNS raised another strong counterattack and managed to get a good shot at goal but our keeper, Malaika made a meticulous save denying them the goal.

At the final whistle, the final score was 8-0 to Braeburn.

Hillcrest U17 Boys and Girls Hockey Tournament (8 a side) - Saturday 25th January

Today's Tournament went well, from the first match to the last match that was in the quarter-finals.

The girls displayed impressive matches despite the fact that we had only one sub throughout the tournament.

It was a happy moment for every one of us in the team because we dwelt on teamwork.

The U17 girls' team had a good time at Hillcrest, despite a tough start with a loss to the hosts. However, the girls improved gradually in confidence and delivery, finishing with a win against Premier at the group stages. Congratulations to Malaika Abilla on her double nomination for MVP. Still incredibly proud of the team, we are excited for better times ahead.

Not so good with the U17 boys team today who only managed to secure one win. A few good moments but quite far from where we need to be. A special mention to Keith who was an outstanding keeper for us today. He achieved 3 MVP awards.

U19 boys’ rugby, ISK 8 am - Saturday 25th January

Poor showing in the U15s league fixture this afternoon against Rusinga. A lot to work on in the team. Final score 50-22 to Rusinga.
