After the Braeburn team qualified for the The Tournament of Champions (TOC) from Stockholm, Sweden we embarked on a new journey to the United Stated for the final competition which welcomed over 70 countries and 120 teams participating. Braeburn sent 11 students to compete against high achieving schools in which two of our junior team sent members excelled as Prajeet came 5th in Africa and Sophia achieved first best in Africa. The competition consisted of a series of collaborative writing that tested their creativity; a scholar's challenge that surveyed their intelligence and debates that showed their dedication and teamwork. Our students were awarded many medals and represented the school and region in an exemplary fashion - we are proud of each and every one.
While the students competed and worked hard there were also tours which included visiting New York and getting a tour around central park, taking pictures with the Statue of Liberty and visiting the part of the city that gave New York the title of ‘the city that never sleeps’ - Times Square.
Our senior students also had the chance to visit the Rockefeller Center and the highest peak viewing the Empire State Building and the picturesque city of New York. Not only did our students get tours outside of New Haven but they also set out to look around the Yale campus which gave them a chance to speak to Yale students and to experience college. This opportunity made them determined to continue to work hard whilst enjoying the social aspects - making many friends across the world.
Thank you for supporting this event.
