🧑‍💼 Y10 & Y12 BTEC Travel & Tourism / Hospitality Trip

7th February 2026

This Friday, Year 12 and Year 10 Hospitality and Travel & Tourism students enjoyed an enriching educational visit to Nairobi Tented Camp Karen. The experience deepened our understanding of how a leisure destination can be managed sustainably. We were warmly welcomed with a mid-morning snack, which set a positive tone for a productive and engaging visit.

During the tour, we explored key facilities including the solar panels, kitchen garden, kitchen area, campsite tents, and the biodigester. Each stop was clearly explained, making the session highly interactive and informative.

The speakers focused on the theory behind sustainable practices at the camp, the responsible use of natural resources and the effects of pollution. We learnt the importance of protecting wildlife migration routes by avoiding environmental barriers. This session helped us connect practical actions with wider environmental impacts.

We watched guest reviews through a short video, highlighting the importance of protecting natural habitats. We were introduced to other branches of the business which helped us learn how the camp is run as a whole.

The trip gave us a deeper appreciation of sustainability in practice and will be a memorable learning experience. We are grateful to the entire team at Nairobi Tented Camp Karen for their hospitality and for making this trip a success.

To our lovely teachers, thank you for organising !
