Year 1 Explore Seasons @ Karura

27th March 2024

Year 1 embarked on a muddy adventure to Karura Forest during the final week of term 2. The educational staff in the forest greeted our enthusiastic pupils with a presentation on how the forest varies with the seasons, which connected to our Science topic on the same. After this (and some yummy snacks of course), we went on a stroll through the forest with the friendly forest guards, who pointed out the arrival of summer and the start of the rainy season. The children squelched in the mud, chased butterflies, spotted monkeys and dik diks, and took in the strong scent of rain and eucalyptus while surrounded by the sound of chirping crickets and calling turacos.

Year 1 showed impressive stamina on the walk and great enthusiasm for exploring nature, all the while making connections with what they were learning in class.
