Year 10-13 Economics trip to Central Bank of Kenya

23rd November 2024

On Tuesday we visited the Money Museum at the National Museum of Kenya to meet with officials from the Central Bank of Kenya. The trip was insightful in many ways: we learned about the evolution of money, the history and early operations of the Central Bank, the key features of banknotes particularly how to identify legal tender, the primary functions of the Central Bank, its role in establishing and implementing monetary policies to meet government objectives, foreign exchange rates, and the effect of inflationary pressures on living standards, to name just a few!

The CBK officials were wonderful; they answered all the questions we had time to ask with great passion and enthusiasm.
