8th February 2025
On Tuesday, 4th February 2025, Year 11 students and their parents were introduced to the exciting opportunities that await us in Sixth Form.
The afternoon began with our Head of Sixth Form, Miss Coleman, who provided an insightful overview of what a typical day in Sixth Form entails and how it differs from Year 11. She introduced us to the wide range of A-Level and BTEC courses available and highlighted how we could make the most of our ‘non-contact hours’ through the diverse opportunities Braeburn has to offer.
We were then introduced to Mr Njagi, Assistant Head of Sixth Form, who spoke about the numerous extracurricular activities at Braeburn, including the ongoing community service programmes. He also discussed leadership opportunities such as becoming a senator or a mental health ambassador—both of which offer excellent ways to enhance our university applications while contributing meaningfully to the school community.
Following this, Mr Manning, our Careers Advisor, took the floor to outline the various post-IGCSE pathways, including the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, BTEC Diplomas, and A-Levels. He addressed many of our questions, providing valuable reassurance about the decisions ahead.
I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say this session was both informative and inspiring, reinforcing that Braeburn supports us every step of the way!
