Year 12 & 13 BTEC trip to Red Cross on Thursday 20th March 2025

Our trip to the Kenya Red Cross was an unforgettable experience. We got the chance to learn about the different departments that make the organization run smoothly, from disaster response to health services. It was fascinating to see how each department works together, creating innovative initiatives, to support communities in need. One of the highlights was visiting the Switch Studio, where we got a behind-the-scenes look at how they produce content for awareness campaigns and even record podcasts. It was amazing to see how they use the media to make such a huge impact, by educating the public on important health and safety issues.
The visit wasn’t just informative but also interactive and engaging. We were given a chance to tour the ambulances and learn how they’re equipped for emergencies. The staff explained how every item had a specific purpose to provide the best aid in critical situations. It was really cool to see how the Red Cross is always prepared to respond quickly.
The most exciting part was the first aid training we received. We practiced life-saving skills like CPR and basic wound care. It was both fun and educational, and we felt like we left the trip with many new skills. The Kenya Red Cross truly inspired us to take action in making a difference in our own communities, by volunteering and getting involved in projects that can have a positive impact. Overall, it was an amazing experience that we’ll remember for years to come and hope to be able to visit again.
