Year 12 – BTEC Business Trip to Safaricom

27th September 2025

On Wednesday 24th September, our Year 12 BTEC Business class visited Safaricom’s M-Pesa office for an insightful and engaging learning experience. We were warmly received and introduced to the history, growth, and operations of one of Kenya’s leading telecommunication companies, with a focus on mobile money services and secure transactions.

The visit highlighted the importance of customer service, teamwork, communication, and relationship marketing; concepts directly linked to Unit 1 and Unit 25 of our BTEC Business program. We also examined the strategies that have driven M-Pesa’s growth and expansion across the East African region.

The trip was both educational and enjoyable, blending valuable business lessons with lighter moments that reminded us work can be both productive and fun. We will now prepare a short report on our key learnings.

We are grateful to M-Pesa for hosting us, and to Ms John, Mrs Entonu, Mr Juma, Mrs Shaw, and Mr Njagi for making this valuable opportunity possible.
