Year 1s had been learning about the different seasons in science lessons, with a focus on evergreen and deciduous plants. This made Karura Forest a fantastic place to explore and search for different trees, considering how they were suited to their environment.
Our pupils also took the chance to detour off the waterfall’s track in search of mini-beasts, and the detour paid off tremendously with lots of sightings, including a dik dik (enormous for a minibeast but on the smaller side for a mammal!)! The children exhibited impressive energy and enthusiasm in learning from nature, taking in the varied sights, sounds, smells and textures. Later on, they enjoyed a picnic in the forest, which included playing some outdoor games in the beautiful sun!
