Our Year 1 explorers enjoyed a wonderful countryside adventure this week during their visit to Mlango Farm. From the moment they arrived, the children were immersed in hands-on learning, guided by friendly and knowledgeable farm staff through rows of colourful crops.
The pupils discovered how some of their favourite foods are grown and even had the chance to taste a few surprises along the way, with fresh gooseberries and edible Chinese lantern flowers proving to be firm favourites. The excitement continued as the children met and fed the farm animals, including goats, horses, pigs, rabbits and sheep.
After a busy morning, the children toasted handmade bread over a campfire to enjoy with jam, followed by a wholesome farm-fresh lunch. Before heading back to school, everyone potted their own spider plant to take home and care for. The children returned tired, muddy and smiling, carrying with them plenty of happy memories from a fantastic day out.
