Year 2 pupils recently embarked on an exciting World Views trip to explore three different places of worship and deepen their understanding of faith communities. Their first stops were St. Catherine of Alexandria Church and the neighbouring Bukhari Mosque in South C. At the mosque, the Imam warmly welcomed the children and introduced them to Islam, explaining the importance of the Holy Qur'an, the features of a mosque and its role within the community. Back at the church, Fr. Paul shared insights into Christianity, teaching the pupils about the significance of the altar and guiding them through the different parts of the Mass. Throughout both visits, the children listened attentively and impressed their hosts with their thoughtful questions and enthusiasm for learning.
The final destination was the Nairobi Hebrew Congregation, where the pupils met the Rabbi and learned about Judaism, the Torah and the role of the synagogue in Jewish worship. The trip provided a valuable opportunity for the children to experience first-hand what they had been learning in class and to discover both the similarities and differences between Christianity, Islam and Judaism. By the end of the day, the pupils had gained a deeper appreciation of the shared values of faith, kindness, respect and community, while demonstrating exemplary behaviour and curiosity throughout their visits.
