Year 2 Superheroes Day – A Truly Super Celebration!

13th February 2026

Friday 13th February was filled with excitement as Year 2 celebrated the end of their Narrative Writing unit with a fantastic Superheroes Day — the perfect way to finish the first half of Term 2. After three weeks of crafting “Triumph over Terror” stories featuring heroes, villains and dramatic endings, pupils were ready to step into character. Despite the short notice, the costumes were outstanding, with flowing capes, sparkling masks and impressive shields on display — and the pride on every face said it all.

The day began with a heroic parade for Year 1, where pupils confidently showcased their costumes and struck their best superhero poses to cheers and smiles from the audience. Back in class, they shared a reading of Superheroes Are Everywhere, reflecting thoughtfully on how bravery, kindness and resilience can be found in everyday life. Discussions were mature and insightful, with pupils making strong links between the story and their own experiences.

The highlight of the day was returning to their own superhero narratives. Writing in costume brought extra energy and focus as pupils used powerful verbs, expanded noun phrases and dramatic cliff-hangers to bring their stories to life. The classroom buzzed with creativity, and the finished stories will soon be proudly displayed in our class libraries — a true celebration of imagination, progress and confident young writers.
