Year 2 Trip to GardaWorld Fire Station Trip

30th October 2025

From the 27th to 30th October, our Year 2 pupils had an exciting and eye-opening visit to the GardaWorld Fire Station - a wonderful way to bring their learning about the Great Fire of London to life. Each class took their turn visiting the station, eager to see how fire safety has changed over the years.

The day began with a friendly fire safety talk led by one of the firemen. The children learnt what to do if their clothes ever caught fire, proudly showing off their new Stop, Drop and Roll skills. They also explored the firemen’s protective clothing and equipment, discovering how each piece helps keep firefighters safe while they work.

After a short break, the children met real-life firemen and paramedics who showed them around the fire engines and ambulances. Their faces lit up as they stepped inside the vehicles, asked questions and got to see the tools used in real emergencies. The biggest excitement came when they had the chance to sit inside both the fire engine and the ambulance - a moment they won’t forget anytime soon!

To finish off the visit, the firemen treated the children to a refreshing “rain shower” from the fire hose. There were giggles and squeals of joy as water sprayed high into the air - the perfect ending to a fun-filled and memorable day.

The trip gave our pupils a hands-on experience of how far fire safety has come since the Great Fire of London and a newfound appreciation for the everyday heroes who keep our communities safe.

It was a day full of learning, laughter and lasting memories.
