20th February 2024
Year 2 has enjoyed learning about Early Man, so to crown off their learning on the topic, they embarked on a captivating journey to The Nairobi National Museum and Snake Park on Tuesday, February 20th. The day started with an immersive tour of the museum, offering pupils a deep dive into Kenyan culture and history. From ancient artefacts to contemporary exhibits, the museum provided a dynamic setting for learning, giving our young historians a glimpse into Kenya’s history.
The gallery dedicated to the Cradle of Mankind held the children spellbound, especially as they came face-to-face with the famous Turkana Boy. This encounter breathed life into their history lessons, fostering a profound appreciation for our shared human heritage.
A particularly captivating moment occurred in the bird hall, where the children observed native birds, delving into their nests, eggs, and beaks. This hands-on experience sparked lively discussions about bird habits and diets, enhancing their understanding of Kenya's rich biodiversity.
The adventure continued at the Snake Park, where students encountered a diverse array of snakes, fish, alligators, crocodiles, tortoises, and chameleons.
Despite returning to school tired, the day brimmed with excitement and discovery. These experiences are sure to etch a lasting impression on our Year 2s.
