In the final week of Term 1, our Year 2s went on a captivating safari adventure to The Nairobi National Park, a truly unforgettable wildlife experience. Perfect weather set the stage for a day filled with awe and discovery, aligning seamlessly with our ongoing Science lessons on 'Animals Including Humans' and our Topic exploration of 'Sensational Safari.'
Entering the expansive Nairobi National Park, the day unfolded with a mesmerising parade of wildlife, showcasing the diverse inhabitants of this urban oasis. From playful baboons and elegant giraffes to regal waterbucks and the imposing figures of rhinos, our young explorers revelled in encounters with Africa's iconic creatures.
While some members of the elusive 'Big Five' remained a mystery, the joy and excitement were palpable as each sighting brought laughter and animated discussions among pupils. The highlight was undoubtedly the awe-inspiring presence of rhinos, a powerful reminder of the importance of conservation efforts to protect such endangered species.
Our adventure continued with crocodiles sunbathing by the water's edge, tortoises ambling along at their own pace, and the vibrant display of various bird species gracing the skies above. The safari not only offered a visual feast but also instilled a deep appreciation for the natural world that thrives just beyond our city limits.
As we returned to school, the memories of laughter, learning, and the enchantment of the wild remained etched in the minds of our Year 2 students. This safari expedition was more than a journey through the park; it was a day filled with magic, showcasing the wonders of nature right at our doorstep.
