Year 3 Adventure: A Cultural Journey to a Maasai Village

3rd June 2026

On Wednesday, 3rd June, our enthusiastic Year 3 pupils embarked on an unforgettable experiential learning trip to a Maasai Village in Kajiado. Divided into small groups, the children spent the day fully immersed in vibrant, hands-on cultural activities.

The action-packed day included a traditional dance: Learning the rhythmic and energetic jumps of the Maasai cultural dances as well as competing in a lively game of tug-of-war. One of the most loved activities was quite hands-on, learning to repair manyattas (traditional houses) using mud. Another favourite was learning about bushcraft & survival - learning the clever tactics a Maasai warrior uses to protect livestock and escape wild animals while herding.

The children also stepped inside a manyatta to experience what a typical Maasai home looks like, which was topped off with a quick, interactive lesson in counting in the Maasai language!

"The trip was wonderful and it is good being a Maasai," shared Logan Nkaate (3S), who proudly wore a beautifully detailed, full Maasai attire for the occasion.

To wrap up the incredible day, our 3s watched a traditional cooking demonstration by one of the village mothers, followed by a chance to sample the delicious food. It was a truly beautiful, educational, and memorable trip that brought classroom learning to life!!
