Year 3 and 4 pupils took us on a magical journey to the Land of Oz in their delightful production of The Wizard of Oz. With colourful costumes, lively songs, and plenty of heart, this performance was a true celebration of creativity and perseverance. Despite earlier cancellations due to protests within Nairobi, our artists were determined to put on a show, and what a show it was!
The stage was transformed into the whimsical world of Oz, complete with sparkling emerald cities, vibrant yellow brick roads, and a menacing Wicked Witch’s ball. The Year 3s and 4s dazzled in their costumes, with Dorothy’s iconic blue gingham dress, the Cowardly Lion’s fuzzy mane, and the Scarecrow’s straw-stuffed suit all bringing the beloved characters to life.
Our young actors shone in their roles, with standout performances in singing, dancing, and acting! The heartfelt rendition of ‘Beat Every Drum’ left the audience spellbound. The roles of Dorothy, Tin Man, Scarecrow, and the Cowardly Lion were each played by 4 different pupils from each of the Year 4 classes, each bringing their characters’ unique personalities to life with charm and humour. In addition, all 8 classes took to the stage at some point throughout the production, making it a massive display of creativity.
Behind the scenes, the production was a team effort, with teachers, pupils from Year 7, lighting and sound technicians, all pitching in to create this memorable event. From the meticulous set design to the dedicated rehearsals, everyone’s hard work paid off in a show that truly dazzled.
The audience was captivated from start to finish, with parents and teachers alike praising the students for their impressive performances. 'It was wonderful to see the kids so confident and having so much fun on stage,' said one proud parent, 'The whole production was just magical!'
It’s safe to say that everyone who participated or attended the show left with a smile and a sense of pride in what our Year 3 and 4s accomplished.
