26th November 2025
On the 26th of November, our Year 4 pupils embarked on an exciting educational trip to Karura Forest, a lush urban forest nestled in the heart of Nairobi. This trip was an integral part of our current topic, "Living Things and Their Habitats," providing our learners with hands-on experience in understanding different ecosystems.
As soon as we arrived, the pupils went straight to the KFEET auditorium where our knowledgeable guides took us through key information such as the animals, trees, and rivers found within the forest. Then we went on a 4.5km nature walk where our 4s had the opportunity to observe different habitats, from the dense undergrowth to the more open areas near the streams.
One of the highlights was the discovery of various insects and small creatures, which sparked a lot of curiosity and excitement. The children also learned about the importance of conservation and how urban forests like Karura play a crucial role in maintaining biodiversity.
The trip was not only educational but also a wonderful opportunity for the pupils to bond and appreciate nature. We returned to school with a deeper understanding of living things and their habitats, inspired by the beauty and complexity of Karura Forest.
