25th November 2022
On Friday November 25th, Year 5 and 6 enjoyed an amazing planetarium experience within the school, where they got a chance to take a virtual visit to the solar system and explore all the planets within it. They explored the order of the planets from the sun, the effect that this has on their temperature, the discoveries so far made about these planets, as well as interesting facts about the moon and how it helps those on Earth to determine the passage of time.
Pupils also got a chance to see and hear about the day to day life of an astronaut while on a space mission, a life that surprised many a budding scientist, some of whom were astonished to discover that they would have to exercise every day on a space mission in order to avoid their muscles turning into 'mush', and that they would also have to swallow toothpaste after brushing their teeth, as spitting it out could cause serious harm.
All in all, it was a great learning experience that helped the Upper Key Stage 2 pupils to put into perspective all they had been learning about the Solar System (Year 5) and Light (Year 6) during Science lessons.
