15th March 2024
The upper Primary pupils investigated the role of time in science during the Year 5 to 8 Science Week, which ran from March 11th to 15th. Topics covered included the mystery of digital time travel, the evolution of species over millions of years, the passage of time in plant and animal life cycles, the development of the human brain as we experience life over time, and the role of time in determining the speed of aircraft. The week's objectives were to pique students' interest in science, develop their imaginations, and cultivate a love of scientific inquiry.
Our Year 5 to 8s also received an overview of numerous scientific disciplines and a glimpse into a typical day in the life of a scientist from a guest speaker who works in the field of climate change. They received answers to inquiries about how to pursue careers in science, how long the process takes, and how lucrative the field is.
Overall, it was a fantastic educational opportunity for our future scientists.
