Year 5’s Best Farmer!

3rd March 2023

For their Science project this term, Year 5 were tasked with observing and recording the germination of a bean seed. They received some seeds, a plastic cup and some soil and were required to plant the seeds in the soil and add a little water. They then took their projects home and had to remember to keep it in the sunlight and add a little water each day.

Recording the beans’ germination was done by drawing and measuring the height of the plant each week, using a booklet that was provided to them by their teachers. They were also allowed to create their own presentation should they want to.

Our Year 5s really enjoyed taking the responsibility of growing their own plant, showing great pride in their efforts, and even got into the spirit of healthy competition by challenging each other to see who could grow the tallest bean plant.
