Year 5’s Explore Japanese Culture

23rd October 2024

Konnichiwa!

On October 23rd, our Year 5 pupils embarked on an exciting cultural journey during Japanese Cultural Day, a vibrant celebration that brought Japan’s unique art and traditions to life! Our Japan explorers had the opportunity to showcase their beautiful, traditional kimonos, explore the art of origami by creating intricate designs, and learn about popular Japanese characters like Pikachu.

The day was filled with hands-on activities, including a session on Japanese calligraphy, where pupils practised writing kanji and discovered the elegance of this ancient art form. They also enjoyed participating in traditional Japanese sports and games, immersing themselves in the playful and energetic aspects of Japanese culture.

The day not only provided a fun and interactive learning experience but also sparked a deeper interest among the Year 5s in exploring the rich cultural heritage of the world’s diverse cultures. Our Year 5s are now eager to continue their global learning adventures.
