Year 5’s Mighty Vikings!

In order to celebrate and extend what our pupils learned about The Vikings, Year 5 had a curriculum enrichment day on Wednesday, June 7th. The day kicked off in high gear with some high paced Viking themed activities such as raid the gold (capture the flag), tug of war and spear throwing (sponge javelins), which was thoroughly enjoyed by all and got the day started with a bang!
Next, the Year 5s spent some time designing Viking runes stones, followed by creating their very own Viking shields using collage! Finally, the pupils turned a story about the Vikings gods and goddesses into a short piece of drama, performing in front of the class.
Everyone really enjoyed Viking day and it was a great way to consolidate and celebrate all that Year 5 have learned so far.
