Year 5’s Outdoor Journey of Learning and Sustainability at Mlango Farm

20th March 2025

Year 5 pupils embarked on an exciting outdoor adventure to Mlango Farm, a remarkable agricultural haven in Limuru. Once a vast neglected piece of land, Mlango Farm has been transformed into a thriving farmland, welcoming school groups to explore and learn about sustainable agriculture.

During their visit, the pupils had the opportunity to sample some of the 50 different crops grown on the farm, wander through a tranquil forest offering a refreshing natural ambience, and observe a variety of livestock breeds. A highlight of the trip was the tree-planting activity, where each pupil planted a sapling to take home—a meaningful step towards environmental stewardship.

The visit also provided valuable insights into Mlango Farm’s core sustainability theme: Refuse, Reduce, Recycle, Reuse, and Rot. Through hands-on experiences, the pupils gained a deeper understanding of how small actions contribute to a greener, more sustainable future.

This enriching excursion not only fostered curiosity and appreciation for nature but also instilled a sense of responsibility towards the environment. A truly memorable learning experience for all!
