This term in geography lessons, Year 6 has been exploring the topic of 'Tourism in Kenya'. They identified Kenya’s rich natural resources such as the Kenyan coast, Mt. Kenya, the Rift Valley and the numerous wildlife reserves, discussing how these resources promote tourist activity and ultimately promote economic growth for the country. They also learned about aspects of sustainable tourism, focussing on eco-tourist options that limit the negative impacts of human activity on the environment.
To further put into practical terms what eco-tourist options look like, the Year 6s developed, designed and modelled their own eco-tourist lodges, giving explicit details of how their designs minimise environmental impact, while still attracting tourism and promoting economic growth. Well done Year 6!
