27th September 2024
From the 23rd to 27th of September, our Year 7 pupils embarked on an exciting residential trip to Batian's View, a week filled with adventure, learning, and personal growth. The itinerary was packed with activities that tested not only the pupils' physical stamina but also their mental resilience. Hiking through scenic trails, zip-lining across breath taking landscapes and participating in team-building exercises allowed the pupils to step out of their comfort zones, all while soaking in the beauty of the outdoors.
An essential part of the trip's focus on developing independence was giving the pupils the opportunity to prepare their own meals. This hands-on experience encouraged them to work collaboratively, while learning important life skills. From planning menus to cooking over camp stoves, pupils embraced this challenge with enthusiasm, gaining confidence in their abilities.
One of the most memorable aspects of the trip was the opportunity for pupils to interact with nature up close. As Berenice excitedly shared, "It was so much fun, a bit chilly, but we got to see some amazing chameleons while hiking." The wildlife encounters and the fresh mountain air created a sense of adventure that left everyone with lasting memories.
For Mayamiko, the trip was all about building meaningful connections: "I made new friends and built great bonds. I’d definitely do it again!" The trip provided a perfect environment for forging friendships, as pupils worked together, supported each other through challenges and celebrated their achievements as a team.
The zip-lining experience in particular stood out for many pupils. Talia reflected on her personal growth: "Zip-lining was a little scary at first because it was high up, but I faced my fear and came back down. I also made some wonderful new friends." Her words echo the spirit of the trip — facing fears, embracing new experiences, and discovering inner strength.
Thank you to the teachers and staff of Infinity Outdoors, our trip providers, who ensured that our Year 7s had a memorable experience, all the while growing both personally and collectively.
