29th September 2023
From September 25th to 29th, Year 7s braved the cold, a river, a forest, cooking for themselves, the screamer, a zipline and so much more fun on their 5 days, 4 nights residential trip to Batian’s View Camp. For many this was the first time they had prepared a meal for themselves, let alone embarked on a trek through a river and camped in a forest. A few of our Year 7s had this to say about the trip:
“It was challenging but I liked the experience.” Ryan
“The experience with the wildlife and cooking for ourselves was amazing.” Eli
“It was great fun, the screamer and zipline made me conquer fear of heights.” Mateo
“The trip was fun, especially going to Ol Pejeta and touching a rhino.” Symeon
“Camping has taught me to become more independent. I can now cook and organise myself better.” Klaus
“It was fun playing in the river barefoot and I made new friends. I realised that some of my peers, especially the new students, are funny and great to be with.” Olivia
“I was scared at first of zip lining and almost gave up but then I tried again, and I am proud of myself for making it.” Serene
“It was a fun new experience, and I am thankful for a surprise birthday cake ,having turned 12 at camp!” Prajeet
“I have never camped before. The place is beautiful, and I loved the experience.” Wafaa
