28th November 2024
On Thursday, 28th November, Year 8 pupils delved into the dynamics of population distribution by comparing Nairobi’s urban areas with the rural surroundings of Kereita Forest. Through hands-on exploration, they gained insight into how urbanisation shapes settlement patterns and how rural regions are influenced by their proximity to natural resources.
In the heart of Kereita Forest, the pupils actively contributed to environmental conservation by participating in a tree-planting initiative. Before planting their trees, they observed the flourishing trees planted by pupils in previous years, which inspired and encouraged them. Seeing the long-term impact of earlier efforts gave them a sense of pride and hope, knowing that their actions would also make a meaningful difference in combating climate change.
This was followed by an invigorating hike to a breathtaking waterfall, where they paused to appreciate the splendor of nature. To round off the day, the group enjoyed a lively game of foot golf, combining fun and teamwork. This excursion provided an enriching blend of Geography, environmental stewardship, and outdoor recreation, leaving a lasting impression on both their minds and hearts.
