📚 Year 9 Options Information Session

This week, our Year 9 students had a valuable opportunity to take part in the Options Evening, led by our teachers and student ambassadors. Held ahead of the 9.5 options process, the evening aimed to help students better understand the range of subjects available to them and support them in making informed decisions about their next academic steps.
Students engaged directly with subject teachers, asking thoughtful questions and gaining clearer insight into what each course involves. Parents also had the opportunity to develop a stronger understanding of both the IGCSE and BTEC Level 2 options, as well as how different subject pathways can support future career aspirations.
Before the subject exhibitions, students and parents attended a briefing led by our careers counsellor, Mr. Manning. The session outlined how the options selection process works, introduced new subjects, and offered guidance on subject combinations that work well together. This was particularly reassuring for many families, as choosing options can feel overwhelming. The clarity provided helped ease concerns and allowed students to approach the evening with greater confidence.
The Options Evening itself was engaging and insightful. Students explored subjects they are excited about and, in some cases, gained a new appreciation for subjects they may not have previously considered. For teachers, the evening also offered valuable insight into students’ interests, motivations, and long-term goals.
Looking ahead, students will take part in taster lessons on 24 February 2026, followed by a Careers Evening. These experiences will further support students in developing a clear understanding of the subjects and pathways best suited to their strengths, interests, and future ambitions.
