Building skills, confidence, and community for the exciting road ahead.
This week, our Year 9 students embraced an important milestone as they began their transition into Key Stage 4, preparing for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in their IGCSE and BTEC Level 2 studies.
Timetables, Teamwork, and Tomato Timers: Year 9 Get Set for KS4!
Throughout the week, students engaged in activities designed to build essential study skills, strengthen teamwork, and encourage a purposeful approach to learning. They explored the Pomodoro Technique, learning how short, focused study sessions followed by regular breaks can dramatically improve concentration, productivity, and time management.
They also delved into the science of memory, exploring the Forgetting Curve and discovering strategies to strengthen retention and make learning stick. Alongside this, students reflected on their individual learning styles, gaining valuable insights into how they can approach revision and coursework most effectively.
A major highlight was the moment students confirmed their subject choices and received their new timetables—an exciting step towards taking full responsibility for their academic journeys.
Work smart, walk far — Year 9 are on the move and ready for the next challenge!
The week concluded with a wellness walk in the beautiful Ngong Forest—a celebration of teamwork, mental health, and the importance of balance as they move forward with energy and focus.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the teachers who guided, encouraged, and inspired our students throughout this important transition. Your support and dedication have made a real difference.
As Year 9 steps forward into Key Stage 4, we are proud of the confidence, resilience, and positivity they have shown—and we are excited to see them continue to grow from strength to strength.
