Yr 10 BTEC Business/Travel & Tourism/Business Trip to the Village

13th September 2025

On Friday, 5th September, students from BTEC, Travel and Tourism, Economics, and Business Studies had the valuable opportunity to learn beyond the classroom. We visited Village Market in Nairobi, where we observed real-world economic activities and business operations in action.

The day began with an insightful overview of the history and evolution of the Village Market. We explored the roles of vendors, shops, and various creative events that contribute to the dynamic atmosphere of the mall. A highlight of the visit was our interaction with Ms. Faith, the Business Manager at Village Market, who provided us with in-depth knowledge about additional revenue streams beyond event hosting.

Following the briefing, we officially began our activities. Divided into groups, we were each given questionnaires designed to gather information from employees, branch managers, and customers. This exercise enabled us to engage directly with key stakeholders and apply our classroom knowledge in a practical setting.

The experience was both educational and enjoyable. As an IGCSE Economics and Business Studies student, I found the day to be incredibly enriching—a refreshing and meaningful deviation from our usual lessons.
